Neuro-scientists have been able to identify specific brain chemicals that can influence our mood. There are times when we can all feel down, negative or unmotivated. We can choose to change our mood and to control it. One way to enhance your mood is to stimulate the neuro-transmitter, Serotonin. Serotonin enables your mindset to be:
- more focused
- less anxious
- more emotionally stable
Nature with its beauty, its wonder, its colours, is one way of stimulating serotonin
But we can’t always pop out for a walk or have access to it at the time we need it. This can be solved by looking at images of nature. You may have some of your own that generate a personal and pleasurable memory. If you don’t, try these images, kindly donated and taken by people in my close network. They are images from nature that have enhanced their mood, that they have allowed me to share with you.
Take 2 minutes out from what you are doing and immerse yourself fully in a picture from nature that inspires you. If you can, breathe deeply and serenely as you explore it (in for 5 seconds out for 7 seconds).
When it’s a tough day, you may need a serotonin top up – so repeat as you can and need.
